They say ‘small is beautiful’ – well we had a small, beautiful group of WINGS ladies visiting Quarry Gardens. The plants, flowers, waterfalls, streams and trees were all gorgeous as usual. Even if you’ve been therefore, there’s always something new to discover. We spent about an hour in the sunshine meandering through gardens talking about the various plants followed by another hour catching up over coffee and cake in the Quail cafe. It’s amazing how often plants can evoke memories of home, childhood and even times spent living in different countries. WINGS trips and visits certainly do provide a forum for us to get to know one-another better as we share our stories of moving, or returning, to Whangarei.
